Mindfulness has helped me understand and appreciate myself better. I have lived with high levels of anxiety all my life as well as trauma-related stress due to my work in war zones and several major life events. The MBSR training has offered me a backpack of tools which have empowered me to navigate life with greater awareness and equanimity. There is more compassion and spaciousness in me and as a result my life feels even more joyful and fulfilling.
My professional background began in the field of political and social justice as a human rights activist. I also worked in several high management positions for private foundations in the United States and sub-Saharan Africa. Once I moved to The Netherlands in 2002, I immersed myself in personal growth and development, meditation and dance, a childhood passion of mine. As a result, I became increasingly fascinated by the body-mind connection and the importance of tapping into our whole-body intelligence. Before I knew it, I began coaching women around life transitions after earning certification as an integral leadership coach from Venwoude, a center for personal and spiritual development based in The Netherlands. Later, I received my certification as a mindfulness trainer from the Amsterdam-based Centrum voor Mindfulness. And, last but not least, I became a dance teacher. I am also an avid practitioner of yoga and the martial art of Aikido.
Today, I offer MBSR courses to the general public as well as to change makers, individuals whose work contributes to positive social and political change in the world. I teach mindfulness because when we are able to move through life with greater stability and awareness, it positively affects everything we do and everyone we interact with. It is my way of contributing to a healthier and more balanced world, one person at a time. If you attend one of my sessions, I guarantee down to earthiness, warmth and humor. You can also expect an eclectic mix of qualities I bring to all I do having been raised in New York City by a French father and a Danish mother and having lived and worked in many different cultural and political contexts around the world.
