After studyinbg Clinical and Health Psychology I did research into how people adapt to living with chronic illness. I'm also a mental heatlh psychologist and worked for some year in mental health care.
Seven years ago I discovered mindfulness. This friendly way of being with what is present became a powerful way of living less 'in the head' and be more accepting towards myself and my experiences.
I followed various courses and retreats with Johan Tinge, Frits Koster, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Mark Williams and the Centres for Mindfulness in Bangor en Massachusetts. Since 2006 I teach mindfulness. Besides that I work as a psychology researcher ant the department of Health Psychology at the Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen (UMCG). My research topic is the effects of mindfulnesstraining and I teach courses to doctors and patients.
